MLM/Multi Level Marketing?
Chances are, when asked if you know just what is Network Marketing, you may automatically think of a pyramid scheme. But what do you really know about Multi Level Marketing? Do you know something about MLM Network Marketing the Financial Experts don't? Chances are the answer is a resounding no. Or, they're just wealthy people interested in becoming more wealthy. Especially if your opinion is based on what others think or say, which is usually rooted in the old model of marketing, formed out of the 300 year old industrial complex (with a sprinkle of distrust of the rich)
One thing I can tell you is that the mentality of a Network Marketer is helping as many people succeed as possible. I personally havenever experienced anything like it. The world of the Network Marketer is not dog eat dog, where the successful covet and make secret the methods they used to become wealthy. In the world of the Network Marketer... there's more than enough to go around. There isn't (that I've seen) that "our team has to beat all other teams and be number one to be successful mentality. If I had to brand what Network Marketing is... I'd have to say it's about genuinely spreading the wealth.
Odd concept, no? Not at all. The 20th century is not coming back. The 21st century is for the socially conscious and the openminded. It's being designed for the strong and independent women, determined but sensitive men, baby boomers unwilling to settle for the quiet life, young people who seek to determine their own destiny. Those who push for gender, racial, cultural and sexually oriented equality. In Network Marketing... people are human first.
In my previous blog Knowledge shall be increased, end times prophecies in the information age, I covered how the industrial revolution was an event that all financial analysts agree marked a major turning point in world history. So we'll start there and work our way to present day.
At a time when the disenfranchised worker's resentment of what came to be felt as a parasitic relationship began to reach critical levels (toiling on land they would never own) the manufactoring industry was born, and families moved towards emerging industrial cities in droves.
I'm of the opinion that most of the resistance to new models of network marketing in the digital world is the due to the same type of concern. Some just refuse to let go of the old industrial model mentality (despite the fact the 20th century literally history) because the knowledge revolution of the digital age is undiscovered counrty. And change is often frightening. But for now lets look at a few interesting parallels between the revolutions.
The Industrial Revolution marked a major turning point in world history; influencing almost every aspect of daily life. The Digital/Knowledge Revolution has already begun to mark a major turning point in world history; and is already influencing almost every aspect of daily life.
Labourers in the Agricultural model worked from sun up to sun down with little enough to feed their families after paying rent. The disenfranchised began to organize, protest, then finally migrated to industrial cities for a chance at a better life. Workers of the then stable Industrial complex eventually came to work 8 hours daily or 40+ weekly with most living comfortably, working to both survive and ensure the next generation had it better. Following the downturn of 2009, millions lost their jobs (and homes) were underemployed (or underpaid) the disenfranchized began to organize and protest, now beginning the migration to the land of entrepreneurship for a chance at a better life for themselves and as such ensure the next generation has it better.
The new industrial labourer's average income and the population began to exhibit unprecedented sustained growth. Changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology had a profound effect on the social, economic and cultural conditions of the times. The dedicated entrapreneur's income is anything but average, the population continues to exhibit unprecedented growth. Computer technology will continue to endow changes in food production, manufacturing, administration, transportation, and has already had a profound effect on the social, economic and cultural conditions now in a new infancy.
In both new worlds, the models of production has and is generating important new requirements for education. The effective combination of human workers with machinery required a general knowledge, the workers had to be able to read and write documents that defined work processes and standards, while today's new technology requires specialized tools, education and a broad network of like minded individuals making the old agricultural model as obsolete to the industrial, as the industrial has become in lieu of the digital.
As before, the newly acquired capabilities and attitudes has also influenced the broader society, as well as the education being oriented towards personal growth and development. Towards the second half of the 20th century, the educational and financial system was once well aligned with the requirements of the Industrial period, lead to a relatively stable state, where advancement equaled parallel expansion in production and education, which has steadily increased into the new millennium... until recent years (aka the global financial crisis)
The Digital/Knowledge Revolution, emerging technology and Network Marketing
Do you remember the resistance to the electric car concept? When first introduced, the electric car faced the same issues most new ideas did (like new energy technology has) in everything from uninspiring advertising campaigns, speed comparisons to combustion engines, limited performance then cancelled lease agreements, it wasn't until the global financial crisis prompting higher gas prices and bankruptcy threats to the major car manufacturers that the hybrid and more "MPG" fuel efficient automobiles found a place in the automotive industry.
In the future today, there will be a lot of technology that only existed in the creative minds of science fiction writer. I covered one of the many types of new technology emerging today, Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence or AI is a branch of science using computers to find solutions to complex problems the way the humans do. It borrows characteristics from human intelligence patterns to create algorithms which function to make computers think like humans.
For fun I took a tongue in cheek approach looking at the possibility of a Cybernetic Revolt, where intelligent machines could one day take over the world. But the primary purpose of AI science is to develop intelligent machines. Most AI specialists work in applied AI, of which there are widespread applications including smart systems which can utilize facial recognition, recognize fingerprint or iris scan for security purposes, recognize voices, interpret information and solve problems. Other applications like fraud detection and prevention as well as handwriting recognition are of great importance today.
I remember when authorities pushed the idea that Hip Hop was the biggest threat to young people (this was way back in 1987-in highschool I read an article titled: Music gone from cool to cruel ) 20 years later, Hip Hop is mainstream, laced with more profanity, negative language and imagery, and unhealthy/negative attitudes towards gender and sexuality.
So just what is it about on line network marketing and multi level marketing that's so bad? Through the years, thanks to the unscrupulous, network marketing and mlm came to be associated with the term pyramid scheme.
So what is a pyramid scheme?
It's defined as a non sustainable business model that involves promising participants payment or services, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public. These types of schemes have existed for at least a century, some with variations to hide their true nature, and because of this, many people have been lead to believe that all multilevel marketing plans are also pyramid schemes where those highest up on the ladder receive the highest returns while those closer to the bottom earn very little or none (BTW, have to interject here with a key fact- in legitimate MLM, Network Marketing, dedicated and productive associates can actually end up earning more than those above them)
Our civilization operates through a hierarchical system, meaning that the model of the pyramid exists in everything from education to labour, politics, law and religion (with some so high up they've forgotten what the ground looks like) In a world of first born praise, first cousins, graded school and military systems... Generals, Presidents, Kings and Queens all existing within a hierarchical order system, how is it still so easy to dismiss MLM and Network marketing as being a pyramid scheme?
Lets look at the term pyramid scheme: a fraudulent scheme in which the perpetrators recruit people to pay money to those above them in a hierarchy on the expectation that they will get payments from those below without offering a product or service.
Lets now look at the words separately. Pyramid: a solid shape or structure that has triangular sides that slope to meet in a point and a base that is often, but not necessarily, a square. Scheme: short for schematic, defined as a plan, blueprint or diagram showing the basic form or layout enabling structure.
Now let's look at the military-industrial complex. The term is sometimes used more broadly to include the entire network of contracts, (upwards) flows of money and resources among individuals as well as corporations and institutions.

Looks like a pyramid scheme to me...
Job vs. Network marketing facts and figures
The majority of people live in what is known as the time for money trap, the average individual goes to school for a quarter of their lives, works for half the years of their lives, then retires spending the last quarter living (barely) on 40% of what they could not afford to live on in the first place (everyone tries to keep up with the Jonses) Many economists believe this system that most of us are in is broken. It's a 300 year old universal system (that was fine before the digital age) that directs us to be worker drones in the 20th century world collective.
Could China and India experiencing rapid growth (which is estimated to surpass the U.S. in less than 20 years) be because their industrial revolution (which is only now reaching puberty while the West's is on life support) is incorporating elements of the Digital age in it's foundations? Likely so. There's not as much that needs to be revamped, modified, or even undone (although there may be similar issues to eventually be overcome like labour laws, wealth distribution, workplace safety, unionization, anti child labour, human rights initiatives and environmental regulations as well as gender and cultural/racial equality)
In my blog: Retirement planning: where to start now, I disscussed the issues of retirement planning and when to start. You go to school and get an education, then you get a job working for pennies for someone else on the 40 year plan (for most struggling the entire way) living for retirement and when it finally shows up you retire and live your golden years depending on other people (our children, retirement home workers, social assisstance) Have you ever heard insanity as being defined as repeating the same action over and over expecting a different result? Well we all do it. Does that make us all insane... or just well conditioned to bust our butts all our lives to make the wealthy more so?
In the multi billion dollar marketing and financial system, traditional network marketing (pre-digital age) negative views of multi level network marketing deeply rooted in the industrial revolution complex was firmly ingrained in social consciousness long before the advent of the PC and Internet.
Do you remember how people generally used to feel about on-line commerce? It's been estimated that in 20 years (as of 2012) more than 2.2 billion people—nearly a third of the planet's 7 billion people now use the Internet for everything from bill payments to on-line shopping (although it still only accounts for 10% of customer purchases, it is also growing) Why? A change in (informed) attitudes reshaped by the most powerful idea... value. Less running around, less time spent in traffic, no line ups. The value offered was time.
Historically, the industrial revolution took hold and changed the world because of the value it offered for millions ofoverworked, underpaid and undervalued people who were tired of struggling in an unbalanced system of wealth distribution. If what's happening now is any reflection of the events that lead to the industrial revolution, despite all of the issues we face daily, I believe living in the digital/knowledge age is truly the best time/age to be alive in.
Do you know something about Network Marketing the Financial Experts don't?
As I wrote this, I was watching a debate over the financial future with CNN's Chief Business Correspondent Ali Velshi, Anchor of CNN's Your Money and a co-host of CNN International's weekday business show World Business Today, where one guest mentioned the need to focus on education for the new age and investing in entraprenueral endeavours, with the other guest believing focus must be directed at strengthening the private sector. Let's review what a few financial experts to say.
“Of all the entrepreneurial opportunities available today, one of the most important is direct selling, also called network marketing.” — Paul Zane Pilzer, Famous Economist and Best-selling Author.
“If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a network marketing business.” -Robert Kiyosaki, Investor, Entrepreneur and Best-selling Author.
“I am often asked if Network Marketing is a Pyramid Scheme. My reply is that corporations really are pyramid schemes. A corporation has only one person at the top, generally the CEO, and everyone else below.” -Donald Trump, American Business Magnate and Co-author of “Why We Want You To Be Rich”.
“Don’t let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you’re crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you’re lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you’re greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.”-Robert G. Allen, Businessman, Financial Writer, Real Estate Investor and Motivational Speaker.
The Financial Experts approve, so why don't you? Do you know something they don't?
Now when a network marketer "tapped" a video of former President Bill Clinton (responsible during his term for record unemployment and debt reduction) endorsed direct sales (aka network marketing) people started coming out of the woodwork both praising and negating the connection between direct selling and network marketing, here's something to consider... the definition of Direct selling/Marketing.
Direct selling is about individual sales agents reaching and dealing directly with clients. Direct selling often, but not always, uses multi level or Network marketing (salesperson is paid for selling and for sales made by people he recruits or sponsors) That in it's barest essence means an individual's success goes hand in hand with the success of his/her associates. This is why the atmosphere in the network marketing industry (unlike traditional sales) is less like swimming with the sharks

and more swimming with the salmon (against the currents of distrust, leaping over the
over the rocky foundations of the industrial complex mentality) all in support of one another, sharing successful routes while navigating the tides of entrepreneurship towards the spawning ground of financial abundance and freedom. (Laid it on a bit thick there I know, but that's what makes this fun) With EN, there are no limitations on subject matter, you can blog about anything. I love it.
According to the U.S. Department of Labour and the Direct Selling Association, with hard work and effort mlm entrapreneurs are five time more likely to earn over $100,000 than in a traditional job (just FYI)
Lastly... What is Empower Network Marketing?
Network marketers are a school of fish, swimming against the currents and often leaping through the air to get to their spawning ground (financial success) True Pyramid schemes have no product or definable service, and rarely have permanent headquarters (in the same place for very long) With Empower Network, the product is the internationally recognized blogging platform (complete with website tools and support) Training (coaching, instructional videos, social network apps and plug-ins) and tools (search engine optimization techniques, advertising techniques, the Internet, social networking groups, personal and auto email communications) required to understand how to promote small business.
Personal testimonial? As a writer determined to self publish and self promote, I've already learned things I had no knowledge of. Had experiences I never planned for (I've been writing for 15 years and never once wrote a blog) increased my knowledge about the topics I blog about (doing research is integral to being a writer) giving face book another chance (became more and more disinterested with each passing year with the constant format changes + increase in advertising)
Be advised, most legitimate work from home opportunities require an investment. From bringing the computer up to the network's specifications, paying for training (that's right, as a small business owner vs. being an employee, you pay the employer/clients using the network) as for job security...? There is none (you're not an employee, you're not paying unemployment insurance tax, you get nothing)
Now that we've helped define what a pyramid scheme is, how network marketing came to be defined as such, and with the world's leading financial experts approval of mlm, ask yourself this questi0n... What is MLM? (Network Marketing) ask yourself really... Do you know something... anything about Network Marketing the Financial Experts don't?
Here's another... if entreprenuership is the future, and working from home requires an investment... and you have the opportunity to earn 100% commissions while building the skills and authority to promote your own small business... what are you waiting for? The invitation's been written. The teaching aids and tools are available.
Is it easy? Nothing worthwhile ever starts easy, but like everything else, it gets easier. Earning 100% commissions makes it a great investment (ask me what compensation me and the 50 other work at home agents got after our final two weeks of decreased available hours after years of loyal and dedicated work)
If you had the chance to go back in time and buy stock in what are now the most successful companies because a financial expert told you to, wouldn't you? Network marketing is a growth industry utilizing the most powerful tools available today. Entrepreneurship is knowing how to use the PC and the Internet to promote your small business. What is MLM? (Network Marketing) With Empower Network, it's a marketing system that allows you to earn 100% commissions.
